With the football season in full swing and the world cup fast approaching i thought a football thread would be a good idea..

What do people think about Viera maybe joining Man City?

Stupid move, Nigel De Jong is better than him, too old, not fit enough, will suffer from the pace of the prem, City want him to be like Makelele but it won't happen, but after saying all this he'll probably prove me wrong.

I'm more interested to see what formation Mancini goes for in the long run, the 4-3-3 doesn't although for his strongest team, 4-4-2 might suit the players he has better, but then there's too many strikers to go into 2 positions.

I think you will, the only problem with Beckford I have, and I've said this to many Leeds fans, apart from the game at Old Trafford, any game that was been a big time game, 4 playoff semi's and a playoff final, Liverpool cup game, he's failed to turn up, gone missing, but hopefully that goal will get him over that.

Liverpool knocked out of the FA Cup tonight then.

Newcastle sail through...

This combines the football thread with the "good thing" thread for me. 8-)

I didn't watch the game tonight, as I hate Liverpool, so very happy.

Anyone else watching the African Cup of Nations, or is it just me sitting watching Mozambique v Benin, some great games, goals, funny moments so far

I haven't yet because of exams but I intend to pick it up now their over. I need to cheer on my Chelsea boys.

In other news. Benitez has sealed his fate. He turned Liverpool into a laughing stock.

I am surprised Benitez hasn't been sacked or walked yet... but then again, they did win last night, and without Gerrard and Torres. Hmmm. Will be interesting to see if they can turn their season around. I guess the best they can aim for now is Top 4.

From what I've heard it would cost too much to sack him. He's just signed a new multi-year contract and he has loads of personal backroom staff they would also have to get rid of. Also if they get rid of him word is that The Special One would be taking the position, but he said he'll stay at Inter till the end of the season, so the have to wait then.

I wouldn't say Benitez is a bad manager but I think Liverpool need some new blood.

Only until Chelsea win their game in hand. Suddenly Arsenal fans pop up everywhere. I hate fans that only support their club when things are going well. I like fans that stick with their club during the band. Like Liam :D

Looking forward to Liverpoool vs Arsenal tonight. Should be a good game now that Liverpool seem to have pulled their finger out a bit.
